Declaring Clinical Competence for Prescribe
Before any Independent Prescriber can begin using the Prescribe module to issue prescriptions, they must formally attest to their clinical competence. This is a mandatory step in the account set-up process to ensure your organisation remains compliant with clinical governance and GPhC standards.
Even if Head Office has assigned you a "Prescribe Seat", the clinical functionality will remain locked until these steps are completed personally by the clinician.
How to Declare Competence
To complete your clinical onboarding, follow these steps within your staff account:
- Log In: Sign in to your account via the Staff Portal.
- Navigate to Governance: From your main dashboard, click on the Governance tab.
- Complete Training: Look for the Prescribe Training modules. Ensure you have read all the provided materials and completed any required assessments or training programmes associated with the service.
- The Declaration: Once the training is marked as complete, locate the Competence Declaration section.
- Attest: Tick the box to formally declare that you are qualified, insured, and clinically competent to provide independent prescribing services via the Deltera platform.
- Save: Click Update or Save to finalise your declaration.
What Happens Next?
Once you have declared your competence:
- System Authorisation: The "Prescribe" tab will be fully activated within your clinical module.
- Audit Trail: Your declaration is time-stamped and logged. This serves as a permanent record for Head Office audits or regulatory inspections.
- Ready to Consult: You can now be selected as the clinician for Prescribe appointments and issue private prescriptions (PSDs) through the IP Bridge or standalone Prescribe sessions.
💡 Clinical Tip: We recommend revisiting the Governance tab whenever a new clinical service is added to your pharmacy’s repertoire. Staying up-to-date with your declarations ensures that your clinical practice always aligns with the latest service specifications.
